BREAKING NEWS: Former Wildcat Williams Signs with WNBA’s Portland Fire

MANHATTAN, Kansas Former Kansas State two-sport star Peyton Williams has agreed to a free agent deal with the WNBA’s new expansion team, the Portland Fire, for the 2026 season.

Since leaving K-State in 2020, Williams has competed professionally in Russia, France, Hungary, and China. Most recently, during the 2025-26 campaign, she completed her second season with Wuhan Shengfan in the Chinese WCBA, where she posted averages of 12.0 points on 58.4% shooting, 7.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.5 assists across 29.9 minutes per game.

In the 2024-25 season, the Topeka native delivered an even stronger performance, averaging 15.0 points while shooting 61.1% from the field, along with 9.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals.

Williams wrapped up her K-State career ranked in the top 15 of multiple program categories, including ninth in scoring (1,553 points), third in rebounds (967), fifth in blocks (119), 10th in field goals made (585), and fifth in free throws made (333). She was also the first Wildcat ever to surpass 1,500 points, 900 rebounds, 200 assists, 150 steals, and 100 blocks in a career.

Kansas State concluded its 58th season in 2025-26 with a 19-18 record, marking its fifth consecutive postseason appearance and 10th in the past 12 years.
