Arsenal Transfer News: Julian Alvarez Loan Move Emerges as Key Conditions Are Revealed
Arsenal are reportedly looking ahead to the January transfer window, with the club continuing to assess potential additions despite having completed the majority of their summer business.
The Gunners have been linked with several attacking options following concerns over their forward depth, while reports also suggest that manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new and improved contract with the club.
Arsenal Receive Julian Alvarez Boost
Arsenal could reportedly revive their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez in January, with Barcelona said to have cooled their pursuit of the Argentina international.
According to reports from Spain, Barcelona’s interest has diminished following the impressive start made by Raphinha, who has been used in a central attacking role. The Catalan club are now believed to be prioritising other areas of the squad, particularly their defence.
Alvarez, meanwhile, has reportedly found regular starts harder to come by under Diego Simeone since the World Cup. Although he started Atletico’s Champions League clash with Liverpool, he was not named in the starting XI for the recent Madrid derby, with Jonathan David and Kang-in Lee preferred in attack.
That situation could provide Arsenal with an opportunity to revisit their interest in the striker. The Gunners were unable to secure Alvarez during the summer, but a loan move could become a possibility if his playing time remains limited at Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal Monitoring Givairo Read
Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read as they assess their defensive options for the future.
The 20-year-old has made an impressive start to the season, recording five assists in seven Eredivisie appearances.
Read attracted interest from Premier League clubs during the summer, with Nottingham Forest making an offer and Everton also showing interest. However, no agreement was reached and the defender remained at Feyenoord.
Liverpool and Manchester City are also reportedly keeping track of Read, with the three clubs potentially competing for his signature in the future.
Arteta Set for New Arsenal Contract
Mikel Arteta has reportedly agreed a new contract with Arsenal following the club’s successful Premier League campaign.
The Spanish manager is expected to remain at the Emirates for several more years after guiding Arsenal to the Premier League title and ending the club’s long wait for the English top-flight championship.
Arteta had previously indicated that there was no concern over his contract situation, saying that both he and the club were aligned on their ambitions and would resolve the matter when the timing was right.
