LSU transfer Matt Gilhool commits to Kansas State
First-year head coach Casey Alexander continues to thrive in the transfer portal, securing former LSU redshirt freshman Matt Gilhool. Unlike many of the Wildcats’ recent additions, Gilhool has yet to log any college minutes.
He spent last season developing on the bench under former LSU coach Matt McMahon, whose final year ended with a 15–17 record (3–15 SEC) and a fourth straight missed NCAA Tournament.
Details about Gilhool remain limited, but he reportedly chose Kansas State over Georgia, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Iowa.
High school numbers hint at strong potential
Gilhool graduated from William Penn Charter after reclassifying into the 2025 class and was rated No. 121 nationally as a four-star recruit.
As a senior, he averaged 16 points and nine rebounds impressive production for a big man at the high school level.
He becomes Kansas State’s sixth portal addition following Rock, joining Brock Vice (Murray State), Brandon Rechsteiner (Colorado State), Jaden Schutt (Virginia Tech), and Dezdrick Lindsay (Oregon).
