JUST IN: Phillies fans Celebrate Jhoan Duran

For a number of reasons, the Philadelphia Phillies have struggled this season. The team was hit hard by Rob Thomson’s dismissal, and injuries have only added to their troubles. Notably, their top reliever by far, Jhoan Duran, has been on the injured list, missing time as the Phillies dropped to 13-20.

According to Zolecki, “Jhoan Duran had a good bullpen session yesterday. Hit 100 mph. Don Mattingly said they’ll discuss the next step. He may or may not need a rehab assignment.”

Duran plays a vital role for the team, and his return would significantly boost the bullpen. He has been sidelined with an oblique issue since April 11th. His absence, now nearing a full month, has overlapped with one of the worst stretches in recent Phillies history.

Before landing on the IL this season, Duran posted a 1.35 ERA over seven appearances, recording five saves and eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings. He was excellent for Philadelphia last year and had started 2026 strong prior to the oblique injury.
