Auburn football closed out A-Day with major momentum, securing a commitment from four-star tight end George Lamons Jr. shortly after the spring game wrapped up. The addition gives Alex Golesh and his staff their second pledge of the 2027 recruiting class.
Lamons is a strong pickup. The Brooks County (Quitman, Georgia) standout just north of the Florida border measures 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds. He selected the Tigers over offers from top programs including Florida, Alabama, and Florida State.
Notably, Lamons had previously been committed to Texas A&M, but backed off that decision in July 2025.

Recruiting analysts are somewhat split on Lamons, largely because there’s uncertainty about whether he’ll be a tight end or wide receiver at the college level. While the 247Sports composite lists him as the No. 11 tight end in the 2027 class, he was also recruited heavily as a receiver. The same rankings have him slotted as the No. 244 overall prospect nationally and No. 27 in the state of Georgia.
With Lamons on board, Auburn now has two commitments in its 2027 class, joining four-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore.
