Advanced analytics place Wildcats mid-pack in SEC as roster questions remain.
College basketball analyst Bart Torvik recently released his early projections for the 2026–27 season, and the forecast for Kentucky is far from settled.

Even with an incomplete roster, the Wildcats are ranked No. 45 nationally in Torvik’s system and are projected to finish 12th in the Southeastern Conference. They trail multiple conference opponents, including Arkansas (5th), Florida (6th), Texas (12th), Alabama (18th), Tennessee (22nd), Vanderbilt (23rd), Georgia (29th), Missouri (37th), Auburn (39th), Oklahoma (40th), and Texas A&M (41st).

These projections come as head coach Mark Pope continues to overhaul Kentucky’s roster. The Wildcats recently lost out on Tyran Stokes, the top prospect in the 2026 class, raising questions about whether another major addition is on the horizon.
Torvik’s model projects point guard Zoom Diallo as Kentucky’s leading contributor, followed by big man Malachi Moreno and shooting guard Alex Wilkins. Jerone Morton ranks fourth, ahead of Kam Williams and Justin McBride, with younger players rounding out the rotation.

Notably, international recruit Ousmane N’Diaye is not yet factored into the system, a potential game-changer for the projections.
Overall, Kentucky ranks 44th in offense and 50th in defense according to Torvik’s metrics. With three open roster spots remaining, the Wildcats may need a significant late addition to move up in the rankings before the season tips off.
