On Monday, Auburn football suffered a notable recruiting setback when a four-star offensive lineman committed to Ohio State. However, the Tigers and new head coach Alex Golesh rebounded on Saturday. Four-star wide receiver Brylan Oduor picked Auburn over College Football Playoff contenders Ole Miss, Miami, and reigning national champion Indiana.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound receiver from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, announced his decision to Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Oduor is a four-star prospect and the No. 16 recruit in the state of Tennessee.
What helped Auburn surge ahead in his recruitment? Christian Clemente of 247Sports reports that the turning point was Auburn’s spring game, known as “A-Day.” Wide receivers coach Kodi Burns led the charge and secured his first commitment for the 2027 recruiting cycle, giving the position group an early boost.

As a junior, Oduor hauled in 24 receptions for 484 yards and eight touchdowns. He also brings track speed to Golesh’s team, with reported personal bests of 11.2 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22.67 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Golesh will certainly value Oduor’s athleticism. He is bringing his renowned veer-and-shoot offense to Auburn—the same system that transformed South Florida into a powerhouse in 2025. The scheme is designed to create explosive one-on-one matchups for wide receivers.

Golesh is clearly prioritizing speed in his first Auburn recruiting class. He has already added four-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook, and he’s even embracing the intensity of the Iron Bowl rivalry by incorporating an “Iron Bowl” practice session during spring drills.
