With the 2026 NFL Draft now less than two weeks away, things have been surprisingly quiet. There’s still plenty of time for the usual pre-draft chaos to kick in, but for the New England Patriots, who hold the No. 31 pick, the silence isn’t necessarily a bad thing they’re positioned to have a strong pool of prospects to choose from.

Armed with 10 total draft picks, New England also has a real chance to bulk up its roster on Days 2 and 3. One name that’s consistently surfaced in Patriots buzz from early on is Auburn offensive guard Jeremiah Wright.
Wright has met with the team several times throughout the pre-draft circuit, and on Friday, he made an official top-30 visit to Foxboro. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Wright has also been preparing for the NFL under the guidance of former Patriots guard Eugene Chung.

Reiss noted that Chung New England’s 1992 first round pick out of Virginia Tech who later coached with the Chiefs and Eagles has played a key role in Wright’s development. Wright credits Chung for helping him trim down from 350 to 330 pounds and for offering mentorship as he gets ready for the pros. The two have grown close, forming a shared Patriots connection.
If Chung still has ties within the organization, that relationship combined with Wright’s repeated interactions with the team might be a clue as to how the Patriots plan to address their interior offensive line depth in this year’s draft.
