Big Blue Nation is anxiously awaiting decisions from Tyran Stokes and Robert Wright III. Around campus, anticipation is building banners are going up, fans are constantly refreshing websites (including ours), and notifications are switched on in hopes of one major announcement… or maybe more.

Because Freeman is another key target fans are watching closely, and according to Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, he’s officially in Lexington for a visit.

The 6-foot-9 forward spent two seasons at Syracuse, where he put up strong numbers last year averaging 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 30.2% from beyond the arc.

Here is a very important aspect of Donnie Freeman's visit to Kentucky

However, Kentucky faces stiff competition from UConn, with Freeman expected to visit the Huskies on Friday. Goodman currently views UConn as the favorite to land him.

Freeman’s path to this point has been unique. He began at St. John’s College in Washington, D.C., before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida, where he rose to become the No. 6 overall recruit in the country and earned McDonald’s All-American honors.

Internationally, he also represented the Bahamas in the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, sharing the floor with players like DeAndre Ayton, Eric Gordon, and Buddy Hield. The team made a strong run to the championship game before falling to Spain, 86-78.

This recruitment feels especially crucial for Kentucky. If Freeman leaves campus without committing and makes that trip to UConn, there’s a real chance he could slip away something that’s happened too often with elite prospects under Mark Pope.

For Kentucky, this might be the moment to finally flip that script.
