Recent trade rumors indicate that the Houston Rockets might see Kevin Durant as a “stepping stone” toward a bigger offseason plan, though an actual deal is still considered fairly unlikely.
But former NBA champion and All-Star Jeff Teague has a different vision for where Durant should land: the Detroit Pistons.
“They’re desperate for another scorer, and Kevin Durant is still playing at a high level,” Teague said on the Club520 Podcast. “That would take so much pressure off Cade [Cunningham] and so much pressure off Kevin Durant to do everything. I think it would be an easy fit.”
The Rockets originally acquired Durant from the Phoenix Suns last offseason in the largest trade in NBA history a seven-team, 13-player blockbuster that sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and multiple assets to Phoenix.
Currently, Durant is battling injuries during Houston’s first-round playoff series against a depleted Los Angeles Lakers squad, with the Rockets down 1–3.
The 37-year-old has already missed three games in the series: Game 3 and Game 4 due to a sprained left ankle, and Game 1 because of a right knee injury. He’s not expected to play in Game 5 either.
During the 2025–26 regular season, Durant’s first with Houston, he sat out only four games none of them due to injury.
