It looks like Kentucky is in a strong position with the James Madison transfer. One player to watch in the portal is Justin McBride.
The 6’7”, 240-pound forward visited Lexington yesterday, and reports suggest the visit went very well, putting the Wildcats in a favorable spot for his commitment. McBride had a breakout season at James Madison, putting up 15.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
He also made major strides from behind the arc, hitting 40% of his threes on about three attempts per game. That kind of shooting would be a great fit for Kentucky’s roster.
Still, as we know, nothing is final until it’s official. We’ll see if Kentucky can close the deal.
Elsewhere, the NFL Draft kicks off today in Pittsburgh. Round 1 happens tonight. While it’s widely expected that the Las Vegas Raiders will take Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, things could get unpredictable after that.
What will the Titans do at No. 4? Could the Cowboys trade up? How will the Giants handle having two top-10 picks?
Unless there’s a surprise, it’s unlikely any Kentucky players will hear their names called in the first round—that’s more likely to happen tomorrow. The draft begins at 8 p.m. ET.
