The UCLA Bruins have secured a major addition through the transfer portal with the commitment of Auburn forward Filip Jovic, who will now suit up for Mick Cronin after one season with Auburn. Jovic appeared in 37 games as a freshman, averaging 6.3 points and 4 rebounds while shooting an impressive 64% from the field. Following a strong debut year, he’ll aim to elevate his game further in Westwood.
Jovic hit his stride during Auburn’s NIT championship run, posting 11.4 points and 5 rebounds per game on 64% shooting and logging 20+ minutes in every postseason matchup. His blend of size, skill, and youth made him a priority target for Cronin.
Before Auburn, Jovic played professionally with KK Mega Basket in Serbia’s Adriatic Basketball Association. During the 2024–25 season, he averaged 12.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 57%. He also represented Team Serbia at both the U17 World Championship and the 2024 European Championship, putting up double-digit scoring in each event.

Opportunity at UCLA
UCLA’s roster turnover should open the door for Jovic to earn playing time. The Bruins have lost Donovan Dent, Tyler Bilodeau, and Jamar Brown to expired eligibility, while Skyy Clark has entered the transfer portal. Dent served as the team’s primary facilitator with over seven assists per game, and Bilodeau led the team in scoring at more than 17 per contest. Clark, hoping for an additional year of eligibility, was a key two-way contributor.
Returning forwards Xavier Booker and Eric Dailey Jr., along with incoming freshman Joe Philon, will add competition, meaning Jovic will need to carve out his role.
UCLA is expected to stay active in the portal as it builds around Jovic, aiming to rebound from an inconsistent season that ended with a Round of 32 exit and to strengthen the roster heading into its transition to the Big Ten for 2026–27.
