The Wisconsin Badgers have faced a challenging offseason, losing 25 players, and much of their focus has been on the transfer portal to rebuild the team. However, their efforts to recruit the 2026 class have not wavered. Unfortunately, one of their recent targets, four-star offensive lineman Ben Nichols, recently committed to Notre Dame. Nichols had narrowed his options down to Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Penn State. Despite a strong push from Wisconsin’s offensive line coach AJ Blazek, Nichols ultimately chose Notre Dame, where former Badgers’ coach Joe Rudolph is now the lead recruiter for the offensive line.
While this was a setback, the Badgers are still pursuing other targets in the 2026 class. They are expected to recruit fewer offensive linemen this cycle after already securing five in the past two years. Wisconsin has a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Benjamin Novak, but with limited spots remaining, they will need to prioritize other positions as well in their upcoming recruiting efforts.
