Michigan football is anticipated to be active in the transfer portal for the second consecutive year. A target is already scheduled to visit, and the Wolverines have already extended a few proposals.
That’s Upton Stout, a former defensive back for Western Kentucky. This 5-foot-9 defensive back appears to be Mike Sainristil’s replacement in the slot.
Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider has reported that Stout will be visiting USC and Michigan football.
While Stout was limited to just seven games for Western Kentucky this season, he was still rather effective, recording 29 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 0.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and eight pass breakups. There have been two defensive touchdowns in the defensive back’s career.

Just from looking at the stats, you can see the ball skills. He would be a really solid addition and would help fill that Nickel role that’s been played by Mikey and Daxton Hill for the past three seasons.
It was reported on Thursday that Michigan football has extended a five-year, $55 million deal to Jim Harbaugh. However, we don’t know if Jim will sign it.
The language is supposed to include a guarantee that Harbaugh won’t pursue the NFL this offseason. However, there could be other things that are still being negotiated.
I’m sure both sides are trying to put in language to protect themselves in case the NCAA investigation finds anything worse or connects to Harbaugh in any way — although I don’t believe that it ever will.
I have a hard time seeing Jim leave under a cloud of suspicion. But this dance with the NCAA has to be getting old. I hope that Michigan can make him comfortable enough with the deal to sign it. I also hope that happens as soon as possible because, for recruiting, it’s needed.
