Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley Questions Officiating After Game 4 Loss: ‘Similar Attacks But Not the Same Foul Count’
After a tough Game 4 loss, Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley didn’t hide his frustration with the officiating. Speaking to reporters postgame, Mosley questioned the disparity in foul calls between his team and their opponents, highlighting what he felt was inconsistent treatment.
“Look, we attacked the basket just as aggressively as they did,” Mosley said. “But somehow, the foul count doesn’t reflect that. Similar attacks, but not the same foul count — it’s tough to understand.”
The Magic fell short in a close contest, marked by several controversial no-calls and foul calls that seemed to favor the opposing team. Orlando, known for their aggressive drives and physical defense, struggled to get to the free-throw line, while their opponents were frequently rewarded with trips to the stripe.
Mosley emphasized that he wasn’t looking for special treatment, just fairness. “Our guys are doing exactly what we teach — attacking strong, staying physical on defense — and it’s disheartening when the whistle isn’t consistent. We respect the officials, but we want the game called evenly.”
Several Magic players echoed their coach’s sentiments, though they stopped short of outright criticizing the referees. The frustration was evident, especially after a pivotal fourth quarter where Orlando was called for several crucial fouls that shifted momentum.
With the series now more intense than ever, Mosley hopes the league will take a closer look at the film. “At the end of the day, we want our guys to play hard without second-guessing whether a whistle’s coming or not,” he said.
Game 5 promises to be fiery, with both teams feeling the pressure. For Mosley and the Magic, a more balanced whistle could be the difference between extending their playoff run or heading home early.
Would you like a slightly spicier version too, maybe one that’s a little more emotional or bold?
