Kansas City Chiefs Trade All-Pro Guard Joe Thuney to Chicago Bears in Blockbuster Deal

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade All-Pro guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, a source told UPI on Wednesday. The deal won’t be finalized until March 12, when the NFL’s new league year begins.

Thuney, a nine-year veteran who spent his first five seasons with the New England Patriots before joining the Chiefs in 2021, started all 17 games last season and has missed just two starts in the past four years. He has won two Super Bowls with both teams.

The trade comes a day after the Bears acquired Los Angeles Rams guard Jonah Jackson, as three of their starting offensive linemen from 2023 are set to hit free agency. Thuney, ranked seventh in offensive line performance by Pro Football Focus last season, is known for his elite pass-blocking, earning top grades in that category over the past three seasons. The 32-year-old is a two-time first-team All-Pro and is set to become a free agent in 2025.
