steelers Sign Free Agent Linebacker to Bolster
The Pittsburgh Steelers made a significant move to strengthen their defense on Friday, signing free agent linebacker _Bobby Wagner_ to a two-year contract.
Wagner, a eight-time Pro Bowl selection, spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he recorded 151 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks.
The Steelers were in need of a boost at linebacker after losing _Myles Jack_ to free agency last offseason. Wagner’s addition is expected to provide a significant upgrade to the team’s defense.
“We’re thrilled to add Bobby to our team,” said Steelers General Manager _Omar Khan_. “He’s a proven leader and one of the top linebackers in the league. We believe he’ll be a great fit for our defense and help us compete for a championship.”
Wagner, 34, is entering his 12th season in the NFL and is widely regarded as one of the greatest linebackers of his generation.
The Steelers are coming off a 10-7 season in which they narrowly missed the playoffs. With Wagner on board, they’re hoping to make a deeper run in the postseason in 2025.
“I’m excited to join the Steelers and be a part of such a rich tradition of excellence,” Wagner said. “I’m looking forward to getting to work and helping this team win a championship.”
