Brisbane Lions Secure Key Signing Ahead of AFL Season
The Brisbane Lions have bolstered their midfield stocks, securing the signature of highly-sought free agent, _Tom Mitchell_.
Mitchell, a two-time All-Australian and 2018 Brownlow Medal winner, joins the Lions on a four-year deal, bolstering the club’s premiership aspirations.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tom to the Lions family,” said Brisbane Lions General Manager, _Danny Daly_. “He’s an elite midfielder who will bring a new level of depth and talent to our team.”
Mitchell, 31, spent eight seasons with the Hawthorn Football Club before joining the Collingwood Magpies in 2022. He played 21 games for the Magpies last season, averaging 28.4 disposals per game.
The Lions are coming off a promising 2024 season, which saw them finish fifth on the AFL ladder. With Mitchell on board, they’re eyeing a top-four finish and a deep finals run in 2025.
