President-elect Donald Trump was happy to be named Time’s “Person of the Year” for the second time. However, late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel reminded his audience about Trump’s past criticisms of the magazine. Kimmel mentioned a tweet from April 2013 where Trump called Time’s list of the 100 Most Influential People a joke. Trump even predicted that Time magazine, like Newsweek, would soon be out of business. Interestingly, Trump was not included in the magazine’s list that year. The next month, Trump posted on Twitter: “Just checked out Time Magazine- seems really cheap like a freebie from the parking lot.” But, as Kimmel mentions, in 2015, when Time featured him on the cover, Trump said it was a “big honor.” However, when he wasn’t chosen as “Person of the Year” later that year, he criticized winner Angela Merkel, saying, “I knew it, @Time Magazine would never choose me as person of the year even though I was the top choice. They picked someone who is ruining Germany.”
