BREAKING NEWS: Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies Invests $3.6 Million to Build Shelter for Homeless Youth in Tennessee

Memphis, TN – In a powerful act of generosity and community leadership, Ja Morant has committed $3.6 million to transform a historic Memphis property into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth. The initiative, sparked after Morant reportedly encountered a group of teenagers struggling with housing insecurity after a game night earlier this year, aims to provide not just shelter, but mentorship, education programs, and mental health support.

“I’ve been blessed with this platform,” Morant said in a statement. “Now it’s about using it to lift others up—especially the kids who feel like nobody’s looking out for them.”

The shelter—set to open in early 2026—will be called “12 Hope House”, a nod to Morant’s jersey number and the vision of offering hope to youth in need. City leaders and local organizations have praised the move as a game-changer for the Memphis community.
