Over the past 18 months, Adam Cole and MJF’s lives have been entwined as they have gone from rivals to best friends, champions, and back to rivals. It appears that this story is coming to an end, which raises the question of what Adam Cole will do next, even if the original plot was put on hold for about a year because Cole broke his ankle. When Cole recently appeared on “Going Ringside,” he clarified that he had a single goal for 2025.
“The biggest thing for me is once I’m done and finished with Maxwell Jacob Friedman, I really mean this, I’ve had this goal since I started in AEW and it will be my goal into 2025, I want to become the AEW World Champion,” Cole said. “I think anyone in this company has the exact same goal, the exact same vision, and that’s certainly Adam Cole’s vision as well. So I’ve been world champion in practically every company that I’ve ever worked for with the exception of AEW, so to add that to the list would be the ultimate dream come true.”
Cole has already nearly won the AEW World Championship three times. In 2022, he unsuccessfully battled Hangman Page twice, once in the main event of the Revolution event that year and again in a Texas Death Match a few weeks later. Friedman prevailed over him in the main event of All In London more than a year later when he battled MJF for the AEW World Championship. However, considering the way things have gone between the two since that night at Wembley Stadium, Cole probably wishes he had taken the shortcuts that were offered to him at the time.
