Tobias Harris added 20 points, while Jalen Duren dominated the boards with 12 points and 19 rebounds. Ausar Thompson chipped in with 10 points and five steals, contributing to a well-rounded Pistons effort.
Despite James Harden’s 18 points and 12 rebounds, the Clippers struggled with seven turnovers, and were once again without two key starters—Norman Powell (left patellar tendinopathy) and superstar Kawhi Leonard (left foot soreness). Derrick Jones Jr. stepped up with 15 points off the bench, and Ivica Zubac contributed 13 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.
Detroit held a slim 51-49 lead at halftime, with neither team leading by more than six points. The Clippers briefly gained momentum in the third quarter with an 8-2 run, sparked by Nicolas Batum’s two 3-pointers. However, the Pistons answered back with a 10-1 run to close the quarter, including crucial contributions from Harris and Dennis Schroder.
With 9:13 left in the fourth, Cunningham’s basket put Detroit up 87-76. Despite a late push from Los Angeles, including a three-point play by Amir Coffey, the Pistons held firm. Malik Beasley’s corner 3-pointer extended the lead to 96-84, and Cunningham sealed the win with a clutch 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining.
