“BYU Football Makes Major Strides with Two Key Commitments After Action-Packed Recruiting Weekend”
PROVO, Utah – BYU football had an eventful recruiting weekend, hosting both top prospects from the 2026 class during Junior Day and official visitors from the 2025 class in a final push before February’s Signing Day.
The Cougars landed two significant commitments from the weekend’s visitors: cornerback Jordyn Criss from Arlington, Texas, and defensive back Landan Goff from Lone Peak High School.
Criss, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound standout, chose BYU over offers from Texas State, Bowling Green, Southern Utah, and other FCS programs. The speedster, with a background in track and field, previously ran a 10.83 100 meters last April. He made a splash by attending BYU’s men’s basketball game against Cincinnati, where he was front and center in the student section. Criss later announced his commitment with the statement, “IM HOME.”

Goff, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound safety, committed to BYU after his official visit, turning down offers from Navy, Idaho State, and Utah Tech. A First-Team All-State selection in 6A, Goff racked up 55 tackles and seven interceptions this past season while helping Lone Peak reach the State Championship. Goff shared his excitement on X, saying, “After my official visit this weekend I’m excited to announce my commitment to [BYU football]. Thank you [Kalani Sitake] and [Jay Hill]. Let’s go win a national championship!!”
With these two new additions, BYU football now boasts 22 commitments in the class of 2025, adding to the momentum as they head toward Signing Day in February.
