The Boston Bruins will officially begin training camp for the 2024-2025 season on Wednesday at Warrior Ice Arena. Once again, third-year head coach Jim Montgomery will have several additions to his roster, as well as some key subtractions.
With the offseason winding down, general manager Don Sweeney brought in a towering center in Elias Lindholm, a physical defenseman in Nikita Zadarov and some muscle and toughness for the bottom six. When camp opened, Sweeney sent a message about how he wanted Montgomery to continue training camp. Last season, as the Stanley Cup Playoffs unfolded, it was clear that the difference between the Bruins and the Florida Panthers was the speed of the Panthers compared to the Black and Gold, as well as a lot of muscle and training. Sweeney addressed the latter during free agency, now Montogmery is looking to address the speed in the next two weeks. “Initially, he (Montgomery) will want training camp to be at a certain pace,” Sweeney said. “If the biggest players can’t keep up, they don’t play.”
