If anyone doubted that former Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh could instantly transform the Los Angeles Chargers, well, they didn’t know Harbaugh.
Turning losing football teams into winning teams is what he does, and the Chargers looked dangerous after a 26-3 win over Carolina. To be honest, the Panthers are probably the worst team in football. But the Chargers are hitting the rocks with former Buckeye JK Dobbins, playing great defense and using the exact type of football that Michigan just used to win a national title. I’m happy for Harbaugh. But it’s still a shame not to see him coach the Michigan football program. It was a golden age and we are beginning to see the consequences of its departure. But Nico Collins stole the show Sunday night in a 19-10 win over the Chicago Bears by the Houston Texans. Collins caught a 28-yard touchdown, his first of the season, and finished the game with eight catches for 135 yards.
In two games this season, Collins has 14 receptions for 252 yards. It’s incredible to watch his development and it makes you wonder what he could have been with the Michigan football team if the Wolverines had actually thrown the ball more often. Despite winning its second game of the season, the Michigan football team fell one spot in the latest AP poll. The Wolverines are now ranked 19th. USC, their opponent Saturday, is ranked 11th at 3-0.
Michigan also fell one spot in the bus poll, dropping from 16th last week to 17th. USC is ranked 12th in this poll.
