Caitlin Clark caused another stir Thursday night as the Indiana Fever superstar broke the all-time WNBA record for most three-pointers by a rookie. However, it was Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell who made another splash to lead Indiana to a decisive 84-80 win over the second-seeded Connecticut Sun. Mitchell finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and four triples in the win. It was another incredible performance from the two-time All-Star, who has been in top form since the Olympic midseason break.
Before Wednesday’s game, Mitchell averaged 26.3 points on 48.1% shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The 5-foot-8 guard has also been on fire from downtown, draining 4.0 triples per game at a 39.0 percent clip.

The former Iowa star also expressed gratitude to Mitchell for being a central figure in her transition to the WNBA. “She comes in and works so hard,” Clark said of Mitchell. “He’s always been a constant voice, even when he was injured during training camp early in the season. “For me, as a newcomer coming here, he has always been a very positive voice, very encouraging. For me, he makes me feel very welcome as a beginner. … I just feel very lucky and fortunate because I know that It’s not the case in every situation for a beginner, so I’m very grateful.”
